Fertility Preservation before Cancer Care

Michael provides collaborative and supportive care for those facing decisions around fertility preservation. Whether necessitated by a cancer diagnosis or a serious health issue, these decisions can feel overwhelming, particularly while juggling multiple specialist appointments. Michael acts as a supportive resource throughout this process, providing the clear, evidence-based information you need to make an informed decision for your future.

Options for Fertility Preservation include:

  • Ovarian Suppression: Using medication to induce temporary menopause, which can partially protect the ovaries from the effects of chemotherapy

  • Egg Freezing: Utilising a stimulation cycle to collect and freeze eggs prior to treatment. This should preferably be followed by Ovarian Suppression.

  • Specialised Protocols: Depending on your diagnosis, Michael may utilise additional medications during the stimulation cycle - such as oral medications to reduce oestrogen levels for breast cancer patients or blood-thinning injections.

  • Sperm Freezing: This can be organised quickly. More than one round is often necessary to achieve an adequate reserve, ideally with 2-3 days of abstinence between each sample.
